How many of us like to go out to eat? For me, I enjoy going to Texas Roadhouse and eating their rolls. I like going to Red Lobster and getting the cheddar biscuits or Fazolis and their breadsticks. Those are always my favorite types of places to go because I like to have a little primer before my actual meal comes, but you have to be careful: If you devour like 6 rolls before they bring out your steak, you won’t have room for the steak.
In John 6, Jesus says in verse 35 that He is the bread of life and whoever comes to Him will never be hungry again. If we fill up on Jesus, we’re not going to be hungry for anything else. We’re not going to be hungry for drugs, we’re not going to be hungry for acceptance from others, we’re not going to be hungry for all the subscribers and views on our TikTok’s and YouTube videos. We’re going to be content with Jesus. Verse 37 says, “Those the Father has given Me will come to Me and I will never reject them.” You know what that means? It means that once you belong to Jesus, you are His and He will never turn you away. We like to sit up on our high horse and believe that we can lose our salvation, that we can go in and out of the Spirit and lose our relationship with the Lord. That’s our egos talking because the reality is Jesus asks this in John 10:27-29: “27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and He is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.”
You know why no one can snatch you out of God’s hand? Because no one is powerful enough to do it. And guess what? We’re not so unlovable that we can misbehave ourselves out of His love either. My kids do things that frustrate me daily, but does that mean I just cast them out and they’re no longer my kids? Absolutely not. So, why do we expect God the Father to reach the point where He’s just done with us? Hebrews 10:14 says He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. The word “sanctified” here means being separated from sins. That’s talking about Christian people. How does God see you? Perfect – for how long? Forever. Are there times you do things you shouldn’t do? Absolutely, maybe even every day. Some small, some big, but what Jesus wants you to do is run back to Him, repent, and not do it anymore. He doesn’t want you to run away from Him. He doesn’t want you to try and fix it yourself before you come back to Him. He wants you to trust Him with everything. And all of this starts by surrendering your life to Jesus.
If you’ve never done that, what are you waiting for? Jesus says in John 14:6, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one comes to the Father except by Me. He is the only way to heaven. You were created for a purpose, you were created by God to live a life for Him. He wants to have a relationship with You, He wants you to come to Him, He won’t reject you. Come to Jesus. Turn yourself over to Him. I don’t know what struggles you might be having or what stress you have in your life, but I know this: Apart from Jesus, we can do nothing. Remember the story of Jesus walking on the water and Peter asks Him if he can come out to him? Peter walked on the water too – until he took his eyes off of Jesus. Once his eyes were off Jesus, he began to sink. The same is true with us: When our eyes are off Jesus, when we’re disconnected from Jesus, we’re going to start sinking. Come back to Jesus.
